New Year New Projects

February 12, 2018

2018 has Lawler Construction working for some new clients as well as some repeat customers.

  • We are performing interior remodeling of the Salvation Army Harbor Light facility.  Their main chapel is being entirely updated and the project also includes construction of the new Hugh Jackson Survivors of Human Trafficking Residence that will be integrated into the existing building floorplan.  This 12-bed facility will act as a safe haven for individual victims and families of human trafficking in the Cleveland area and is being constructed by the Salvation Army in partnership with the Hugh Jackson Foundation.

  • A new client for our firm is Mitchell’s Ice Cream.  We are doing a complete gut and remodel of the Beachwood store that requires the facility to shut down for the duration of construction.  This work is scheduled to complete in the spring of 2018 and we’re looking forward to Mitchell’s being able to serve ice cream to the community again very soon.

  • Our long relationship with Case Western Reserve University continues as we move into the 2nd phase of the Haydn Hall remodeling project.   Lawler is acting as Construction Manager for this project and Phase I involved acoustical separation work to make classrooms and practice rooms more acoustically isolated in the Music Department’s main building.  Phase II work, which is proceeding in 2018, introduces an entirely new HVAC system into the building that will include full building cooling; an amenity that has never been in the building previously.  Additionally, graduate student and storage areas are being created and remodeled to fit with other developments of the department and school.

  • Another new customer for Lawler is Peace Lutheran Church in Cleveland Heights.  Work for this project requires the construction of a new hoist way and the incorporation of a new LULA elevator into the building to serve three levels.  Work started in late 2017 and is expected to complete before the summer months.  The project allows us to demonstrate our skill at managing existing conditions and dealing with a tight work space.  We are excited to be providing this new access for the parishioners.

  • Over 20 years ago Jim Lawler first worked for Dave’s Markets and we are proud to continue that long tradition.  We will be constructing the interior improvements to the newest Dave’s Market in midtown Cleveland starting in late spring or early summer, as soon as the building shell is ready.  With a targeted opening date of early 2019, this 55,000 sf facility will have all the amenities and services that Dave’s is known for with the added features of a cooking school and café to serve the local community.  As a part of the Link 59 development, Dave’s is working with local leaders and the medical community to bring healthier choices and education to an underserved group.
